En pasados días se reportó la migración de los primeros sábalos a territorio boliviano, en el río Pilcomayo y se espera el informe de monitoreo para que se levante la veda y se dé inicio a la temporada de pesca de este año.
El presidente de la Organización de Capitanías Weenhayek de Tarija (Orcaweta), Francisco Pérez indicó a El Andaluz que Codefauna del Gobierno Autónomo Departamental de Tarija realiza el monitoreo en el río Pilcomayo.
Explicó que en pasados días realizaron un recorrido, pero que no se habría encontrado muchos peces y se programa un nuevo recorrido para la próxima semana.
La pesca es la principal actividad económica de las familias del pueblo Weenhayek y esperan el inicio de la temporada de pesca.
Dependerá de los informes técnicos de los monitoreos para definir la fecha para levantar la veda, si se tiene la migración del cardumen aguas arriba.
Ante la crisis económica en el país y los desastres naturales que afectaron a varias comunidades indígenas, consideran que la actividad pesquera podría generar un alivio económico para muchas familias.
Mencionó que si bien, aún no comienza la temporada de pesca y no se tiene gran cantidad de sábalo, por los menos, muchas familias Weenhayek pueden sacar 5 o 10 peces para solventar a sus familias.
Remarcó que, con la pesca no se benefician solamente las familias indígenas, también se genera movimiento económico en otros sectores, el transporte, los comercializadores, entre otros.
